Name: Christmas in 1900 at the Brown-Dorsey Historic Home
Date: December 13, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM CST
Event Description:
Mark your calendar now for this FREE opportunity to travel back in time to the beginning of Midland's history and see the home of one of the city's founders… It is Christmas in 1900, the first yuletide season of the new century. The Taylor Brown family is also celebrating their first Christmas in their new home. A juniper from the Railway Ranch decorates the parlor, with exciting toys for children underneath. The smell of a fresh pie wafts from the kitchen, along with those of cookies and cider. The Brown family invite you to visit their home and sample a bit of life in Midland at the dawn of the twentieth century. The Midland Historical Society has decorated the Brown-Dorsey Historic Home for Christmas as it might have appeared in 1900, the first Christmas the Zachary Taylor Brown family spent in the home built in 1899. Experience the holiday when Midland was a youthful community, less than two decades old. Docents will direct you through the home, sharing portions of the Brown family story and life in Midland in each room. Refreshments will be available at the end of the tour, as well as information about future plans for this historic property. The event is free, but donations to help continue to restore the home are greatly appreciated. All ages welcome.
